: half-baked IV :

First of all, I’ve got a beef with Yahoo! And an email account, too. I’m being deluged with dozens and dozens and hundreds of junk emails daily. Since I’ve not signed up of for Internet offers I guess Yahoo! sold my email address to various spam services. Was that nice ? Then there’s signing in, it takes for damn ever. The screen jumps and changes, dumping the information you entered, sending you straight back to square one.

Well, that’s enough of that. Let’s head for the showers.

Shower Curtains — I fell in love with this the moment I saw it. Who wouldn’t? A masterpiece like this adds a little kitsch to the dullest, most utilitarian room in the house. The one above is from Singing in the Rain. You know, the Hollywood classic with Gene Kelly.

There’s also Yellow Submarine and 20,000 Leagues. Each one is a work of art and turns a shower into the stuff of legends. You’ll find them at: http://www.mxyplyzyk.com and at their store in New York.

Brandt Brauer Frick — they’re a German trio of instrumentalists who’ve been described as minimalist techno fused with classical overtones. Yeah, whatever. Their video, Caffeine, is entirely drawn with pencil on paper. Kind of mesmerizing.

The Keeper of Lost Causes –if you’re a fan of mysteries, brooding Scandinavian mysteries in particular, you ought to give this one a shot. A guilt-ridden, deeply flawed detective, who survived a shooting one of his colleagues didn’t, is promoted to head a cold case department of one in the Danish police. The first case he tackles involves a politician who’s been missing for five years. She’s not dead.

That does it for this, the fourth edition of half-baked. If you come across something you think is interesting or unusual, please point me in that direction. Have a terrific weekend and thanks for stopping by.

  1. First of all let me tell you, I really really love your half-baked posts! They are like a bag of asorted (hopefully I got this word right now, I’m to lazy to look it up right now, it is to early and I’m still on my first cup of coffee) candy. There is always something good to find. =)

Don’t get me started on Yahoo.

These shower curtains look great! Like Lenore I like the rainy one best.

I never ever heard of this german trio, but that doesn’t mean much. That kind of music isn’t my cup of coffee anyway.

I need to look if that book is availabe at iTunes. It sounds interesting and it would come just in time since I’m almost done with the book I’m currently reading. I’m also waiting for the 4th part of Eragon which is suposed to be released soonish.

    1. Hi, Min. I’m glad you liked this. These posts are fun to do once in a while.

I’m not familiar with the Eragon series. Is that a Fantasy type? It seems like everyone loves those.

It was good to hear from you.

  2. I like that raining shower curtain. Quite clever.

Yahoo! Yes, well, I use Yahoo! And, I must say, I like it better than Gmail. I know. What am I thinking?
Check your version of internet browser – perhaps the glitches you mention are due to the browser.
I get the ‘spam’ thing – literally and figuratively. But, my account does a great job of directing it to the SPAM folder, so I never have to see it.
Good luck! The book looks good…

    1. I took your advice. I normally use Firefox, so I tried Safari. Same deal, jumping and reloading. I think I need the patience to let it go through all its maneuvers and then sign in. No, gmail is no picnic — I don’t like the emails being linked. It’s confusing. I appreciate your visit, thanks, Lenore.

      1. Not sure if this is what you mean by emails being linked, but try going to the settings page (cog, top right-hand corner) and turning off conversation view.

Shower curtains, yes. Bathrooms feel too small to put art in, but I don’t know what I’m saying because we have painted trompe-l’œil, uh, murals (?) on our bathroom cupboards. What one really needs is a curtain where, as the inevitable yucky blackening at the bottom occurs, the picture changes. Is there some kind of invisible ink that is activated by steam? A missed opportunity.

        1. Whoa, that was easy, thank you.

Trompe-l’œil cupboards are a terrific idea, especially considering how hard it is to decorate bathrooms. Did you paint them yourselves?
