: strike the tent :

Those were believed to be Robert E. Lee’s last words when he died in 1870, except they weren’t. Scholars and / or historians have dismissed the possibility of such metaphorical thinking since Lee had suffered a stroke, one that left him unable to speak. Still, it makes an enduring and poetic epitaph, don’t you think?

My last words aren’t nearly as memorable. Or as final. Or even my last.

Because, you see, I will be back. I will return to the battlefield. Maybe not tomorrow or next week, but soon and for a long time. Thank you for your patience.

  2. I’m sorry, Lisa. And I’ve missed your mug around here. Please drop me a note sometime and let me know how you are so I don’t worry. You know how I worry. My headache tumors and such.

  3. I’ve only been at this for a month or so, but yours was the very first (written) voice of encouragement I heard.. Life gets more complicated than we’d like sometimes. On the bright side, it’s a break from the keyboard and you’ll undoubtedly gather tons of insight for the future, whatever that may be. Looking forward to seeing you again, whenever that may be.

    1. You’ve got a great writing style, 1pp, I think you should know that.

And you’re right, things are more complicated than I’d like. Life has taken on the nature of a game of Whack-A-Mole lately — just when I get one situation under control, boing boing, up pop two more. I’m looking forward to things getting back to normal. Soon. See you then.

  5. I might have to strike the tent myself, for a while. I have finally found a temporary job that will take up most of my free time I guess. Wish that lottery ticket would come in…or something. Take care.

  6. You’ve been in my thoughts, Lisa. I’ve been hit with a flog or funk or blunk or something. (smile) I’m behind with my reading and behind with my writing. I worry people thing I have forgotten about them … I haven’t. I’m just busy, I guess.

I hope you are feeling well. I hope the heart-rate is good, and I hope I do read more of you soon. Be well!

      1. Hi, Lenore. Those flogs or blunks are brutal, aren’t they? At least you’re busy, busy is good.

I’m feeling fine. And I will be back soon.

PS. No, sigh. I’m moving, among other disasters.

Hectic! But fine. Especially now that I finally figured out how to get a new website going. Seems I can blog (sort of) but website-building is a whole different animal (which I did indeed blog about, because why not?). I’ll take digging in the dirt any day. I’m sure glad to hear you’re all right — I’ll be looking forward to more fun publikworks in the future!

  11. That is interesting. I never new that.

It really does make an enduring and poetic epitaph, now maybe I can write a poem about Robert E. Lee. That might be an interesting project.
