That’s my dog, his name was Bart. Together, we were Bart and Lisa. You know, The Simpsons?

He was one of the world’s great dogs and we were inseparable. I miss that little pink tongue and those big rabbit ears and the way he hopped when he ran, like Pepé Le Pew. I miss his wagging tail and the warm weight of his body beside me.

I haven’t forgotten you, Bartie. Not for a moment. Not ever.

  2. Bart, looks amazing. I have a relative of his (the same type). So far we are Elisa and Tinto. I´m so sorry Bart has moved on. Lots of love from Elisa and Tinto in Sweden.

    1. You’re so fortunate. Tinto is a cutie, Elisa. I love that breed of dog, the Wire Fox Terrier. They’re so alert and smart and lively and loaded with personality. Bartman was the third; I wish I’d had fifty. Give Tinto a pat on the head for me.

  5. I’m sorry for your loss. I know we’ll be facing the same thing soon…my 17 year old pup hasn’t been herself and we know the time is coming. It’s heartbreaking because no matter how long they’re with us, it is never long enough. My thoughts are with you.

  6. Bart is gorgeous! I’m so sorry that you had to say good-bye to him. He obviously led a good life with you and knew he was loved as unconditionally as he loved you. He will always be with you.

  8. So very sorry for the loss of your special Bart! It is so hard to lose a pet. They are an unconditionally loving member of the family and so many memories are tied to them. Hugs to you, as well.

  10. There’s nothing like the unconditional love of a pet, is there? I’m awfully sorry about Bart, Lisa. Judging from this photo, he was adorable. It’s just not fair that we outlive them. They’re the ones who really deserve to stick around.

  11. I think what makes our dogs so difficult to lose is their unquestioning dedication. They couldn’t give a rip less if you’re homeless and smell like a port-a-potty or filthy rich. They still look at you with the same adoring eyes and open-mouthed pant.

    1. Isn’t that the truth? Plus, he was so thrilled just to be alive. Everything was a joy to him, even a bath. He was a wonder, Richard. They all are.
