Help me out, I’m confused. Are we celebrating the New Year or are we welcoming the end of the old one? I’m never sure what I’m supposed to do. So, please, don’t say both, it has to be one or the other.
In my book, there’s no question, really. I’m celebrating the end of 2014 and, from early indications, I’m not alone. It was a crummy year. Then Google released their top searches and made it official: 2014 was a big, fat stinkeroo. Skeptical? Well, read ‘em and weep. And help yourself to the free tissues.

You are right. 2014 was a year of great loss. I have been soooo looking forward to a fresh start. Then the phone rang New Years morning and I spent the day at a trauma hospital with family members. This is also why I didn’t read this post until now. Doing a bit of catch up, your post was up on my browser as I was reading it when the call came. We are on the mend now, hopefully. Moved from trauma to ICU over the weekend and now a regular room. There will be lots of difficulties for my Nephew moving forward but he is alive and he is not paralyzed and he is not brain damaged. I am going to take that as a good start to the year. And as his actual accident happened New Years Eve at 7:30pm I am chalking it up to that nasty year of 2014 going out with a crash.

You’re lucky in that he’s made huge progress in only a few days — going from trauma to ICU to a regular room in such a brief span is amazing. He must be a strong, healthy guy, which bodes well. Right? Even so, I’m sorry you have to deal with this. I’ll be thinking of you, sending lots of good and happy thoughts your way.

2014 was rather crappy but I like the prospects of 20 15. Not ‘two thousand and fifteen’ which sounds dull and not somewhere you’d land your Tardis. Twentyfifteen gallops along so get in the saddle and go! Good vibes everyone.

I get confused by all of the “First Night” celebrations. Because in my mind the first night is January 2. But thats just me.

Those First Night shindigs always throw me because they start in the daytime, right? And they’re everywhere — but with very different activities. Oy. What makes it a ‘First Night’ is my question.

Me, too. Now I’m trying to be hopeful for 2015 and forget the relentless pounding I took last year. Oh, and to stop flinching involuntarily — that’s my New Year’s resolution :o)
