: how to spend a rainy day :

July 11, 2021July 15, 2021 ~ the whirly girl ~ 9 Comments

Every once in a while a day comes along that's less than ideal: it's rainy, it's cool, it's foggy. The kind of day better suited to gills than lungs. Everything is wet and inhospitable, but if you've no pressing demands, it's undeniably perfect. Today is that day. Having absolutely nothing better to do, I spent … Continue reading : how to spend a rainy day :

Hang on to your hats, ladies and gentlemen, a new theme is in the planning stage. Against my better judgment and through no fault of my own -- heh, imagine that -- an overhaul of publikworks has become necessary. Unfortunately, the latest Firefox update brought a bug, a glitch, something squirrelly to the theme. Now when … Continue reading : coming soon :

Who else but a wacko nutjob changes themes for the novelty of it? I should have my head examined or electroshocked or shipped to Vienna. And soon. This theme changing stunt is textbook self-destructive behavior. I didn’t stop to consider consequences; I plunged in heedlessly like always. Fallout be damned. A word to the wise? … Continue reading : why, yes, I do have a screw loose :

I warned you this could happen and it did. I changed themes. The new tag can stay, but the theme had to go. It didn’t work for me, after all. The elements were too big, I like small. I like white space. I like clean and airy. This wasn’t a knee-jerk reaction, I gave it … Continue reading : pardon the interruption :

Tada. Publikworks proudly presents -- changes. New theme, new look, new tag. The whole shootin’ match. It’s the easy road, naturally, the one requiring the least effort. I spent minutes deciding on a ready-made design, pushed a button and, Bob’s your uncle, a brand new shiny blog. Hey, I lifted a finger, so the credit … Continue reading : step one :

WELCOME!

Limerick of the Month

I bought a new Hoover today,
Plugged it in in the usual way,
Switched it on — what a din;
It sucked everything in,
Now I’m homeless with no place to stay.

World Penguin Day

A celebration of the coolest dudes in nature.April 25, 2022
Did you know penguins have knees? They do. And although they can't fly, they can swim really fast. 11 - 15 mph fast . Most impressively, penguins use sign language to communicate with each other. Probably to complain about humans. Because, according to them, we walk funny.

We’re all hurtling through space at 1,040 mph with the earth’s rotation. I’m the one in the backseat with my head out the window. May I borrow a comb?
